Women, Infants and Children:
WIC is a free program to Ross County residents
who qualify finanically and have nutritional needs. For appointments you
much bring your child or children; identification for the person the
services are for; income verification; and/or pregnancy verification. Once
you have checked in and filled out the proper paperwork, clinical data
will be taken. After talking with a health professional, food packages are
given and coupons are printed. Foods provided may include: milk, cheese,
beans, peanut butter, eggs and 100 percent fruit juices. Women who are
breastfeeding can receive carrots and tuna, if no supplemental formula is
received. Babies can get formula, age-appropriate juices and cereals, or
special formulas with a doctor’s prescription.

Newborn Home Visits:
The Newborn Home Visit Program is a FREE, one time visit, from a specially
trained registered nurse. The only requirement is that the expectant or
new mom reside in Ross County. The visit allows the new mother to ask
questions in the comfort of her own home. During the visit, the nurse will
assess baby's weight, provide mom with information concerning baby's care,
safety, immunizations, & normal growth & development. The nurse can also
assess mom to make sure she is doing well since giving birth, offer
emotional support, & discuss birth control methods. A prenatal visit is
also offered to discuss ways to maintain a healthy pregnancy, & plan for
delivery & baby's arrival.
