Description: The Vital Statistics office at the Ross County Health District is mandated to record and keep on file all births and deaths that take place in Ross County - including Chillicothe.
Vital Statistics issues certified copies of birth and death records, as well as burial permits. The cost of certified birth and death records is $25 and burial permits are $3. These may be requested in person or in writing.

Simply supply the name of the person whose birth or death record you are requesting (name at the time of birth, or at the time of death). Dates are not required, but if known they will be helpful if the event that there are additional persons sharing the same name. Be sure to supply a return address. Typically, requests are processed at the time they are received, but this is not guaranteed.

Payment Information: We accept cash payments and checks from local residents. NOTE: For those outside of Ross County requesting a birth or death certificate by mail, payment by money order will guarentee the quickest service. If you pay by personal check, we cannot send you the certificate you are requesting until your check clears our bank. There is a $15 charge for returned checks. We're sorry but at this time we do not accept payment via credit or debit cards.

Genealogists are welcome to stop in our office and view our birth and death records. Most date from 1907, but a few date back to 1888.
